Join us for an interactive workshop where children will learn the art of traditional Indigenous hand drumming, led by a First Nations and Métis instructor Chantale Joly. Kids will explore the rhythms and cultural significance of drumming as they connect with Métis and Ojibwe traditions. Through storytelling, hands-on activities, and the powerful sounds of the drum, this workshop celebrates heritage, rhythm, and community. Don’t miss this opportunity for a fun and educational experience that honors Indigenous culture and encourages creative expression through music!
About the presenter:
Chantale Joly is Métis and First Nations of the Ojibway, originating from Penetanguishene. She is an elementary school teacher, and works with Métis Nation of Ontario and the IRBC. She has dedicated the last 8 years working with many elders to learn and experience Indigenous dancing, music, ceremonies, drumming, art, and storytelling in order to get permission to teach these traditions to the next generation. The path to reconciliation, healing, and immersion of Indigenous culture comes from experiencing and learning these traditions together. Miigwech!
