Program Description

Event Details

Participants will learn the basics of the linocut process to design, carve, and print their own rubber animal stamps. Using special tools, fine detail can be achieved to capture an animal’s intricate features and its unique character. Finished stamps can be used with regular stamp pads to adorn any number of items, including stationery and fabric. All materials will be provided.

It is recommended, but not entirely necessary, that participants come prepared with a pencil sketch no larger than 3 inches square of the animal they would like to create.

About the presenter: Susan Munderich is an elementary teacher and award-winning artist, whose linocut prints celebrate biodiversity, conservation, and adaptations. Her work is in private collections all over the world and has been in exhibitions through galleries in Canada, the United States, and Australia. Over her 27-year career with the Durham District School Board, she has created and facilitated a range of arts-based professional development opportunities for teachers, and has been an instructor and visual arts coordinator at the Durham Integrated Arts Camp.
