Kick off March Break by coming to the library and enjoying an interactive storytime with the Mayor of Pickering, Mayor Kevin Ashe as he reads stories and sings some songs!

Discover how colour can bring ideas to life with oil pastels. Design a one-of-a-kind artwork to take home in this self-directed program. Supplies will be provided.

Kids are invited to bring their stories to life using stop-motion animation!

Got big ideas? Let’s turn them into awesome kid businesses! Join other creative kids to brainstorm fun products, cool services, and amazing business ideas. 

Build confidence and a love of reading with certified therapy dogs from Therapeutic Dogs of Canada in Paws To Read! Children are invited to read aloud to a friendly therapy dog in a calm and supportive setting.

Attention young writers! Do you love writing stories or sharing your awesome ideas? In this fun workshop, you’ll learn how to organize your thoughts and bring your writing to life.

Create a custom candle using wax and simple techniques. Add your own unique design and essential oils to make something you love and can take home! Supplies will be provided.

Pick a silly head, choose a wacky body, then draw your own arms and legs to bring your creation to life. When your crazy critter is ready, send it off to explore one of our awesome biomes—rainforest, desert, ocean, and more!

Get ready for a fast-paced, laugh-filled performance the whole family will love!

Kids are invited to get creative and transform everyday recycled items into amazing works of art! Using materials like cardboard, bottle caps, paper rolls, and more, children will design unique crafts. Supplies will be provided.

Follow the rainbow to the fun! The luck of the Irish is in the air at our St Patrick’s Day celebration featuring various crafts and activities. Wearing green is encouraged but not required.

Explore the science of light & colour! Children discover how white light is made and separated into a rainbow of colours.

Test your grammar superpowers as we swap nouns, adjectives, and adverbs to create the goofiest, wildest Mad Libs ever. We’ll play together as a group and crack up as our stories turn completely ridiculous.

Join the Litmus Chinese Dance Association and learn Uyghur dance! Uyghur music is upbeat, cheerful, and festive.

Biography

Discover local wildlife as you create beautiful compositions with simple materials! Participants will design their own cardstock cutouts of plants and animals, then transfer the images to paper by rubbing with coloured crayons.

Explore digital drawing  using our Wacom tablets and an easy to use art program.

Come spend an afternoon at the movies...at the library! We will be watching Zootopia!

Jackbox! Come socialize and play a few rounds of several different Jackbox Party games!  Please note that a smart device (phone, tablet, etc.) will be needed to participate.

Celebrate Hungry Caterpillar Day as we read the famous book and then make bright, buggy crafts inspired by the book. Come wiggle, giggle, and create with us as we explore the wonderful world of caterpillars and butterflies!

In this hands-on program, participants will learn how to design their very own small object using Tinkercad. The library’s 3D printers will turn digital designs into real, touchable creations!
