Explore the story of salmon and trout in Lake Ontario, spanning habitat degradation, overharvest, extirpation, stocking, naturalization, and shifting management priorities. Dr. Peiman will discuss the native and non-native salmon and trout in the lake's tributaries, including their biology, ecology, management, and how they serve as a success story. The Local History Speaker Series is a quarterly event featuring a presentation from a different guest speaker on an engaging topic of local history. Come by for a one-hour in-person presentation followed by an opportunity to ask questions of knowledgeable presenters.  Registration is required for these events. 

Speaker Bio: Dr. Kathryn Peiman has studied birds and fish around the world. She is a biologist, photographer, and artist, and has written three books on biology for general audiences. She previously coordinated the Lake Ontario Atlantic Salmon Restoration Program and currently freelances on various projects.
