In this workshop, participants will make personal connections to drumming, learn about the significance of drumming and the Djembe drum. Participants will create, design and play their very own mini Djembe drum! Supplies will be provided.

 This program is in partnership with Negus Medhin from Holistic Vibrancy and the Congress of Black Women of Canada.

Biography of Negus Medhin

Negus Medhin is a Holistic Health Therapist & consultant specializing in the areas of Reflexology, Shiatsu and Aromatherapy.  His education includes Kinesiology, Physical Health and Wellness sciences, Psychology and Early Childhood Education from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. He is a natural health therapist and professional African-Caribbean drummer, singer and performer who conducts workshops, classes and tutorials. He is the proud owner of Holistic Vibrancy, a natural health and wellness company, which offers holistic health services and products in the Greater Toronto Area.

Biography of the CBWC, Ajax/Pickering Chapter

The Congress of Black Women of Canada, Ajax/Pickering Chapter, is a non-profit organization made up of a dynamic, multi-generational team of women dedicated to uplifting and empowering Black women and their families within the Durham Region. Driven by a mission of sisterhood and support, the Chapter creates spaces for education, community outreach, and social connection. The Chapter is committed to celebrating Black culture and experience year-round—continuing that journey through its special partnership with the Pickering Public Library to honour the diverse perspectives and identities of our community.
