Program Description

Event Details

During slavery, quilting was a common practice and people enslaved wove in hidden messages to help guide those yearning for freedom. Enslaved people followed the symbolic patterns and pictures in the quilts in hopes of escaping to the North and Canada.

Visit any library location and colour your own pattern piece. All collected pieces will be taped together to create a Freedom Quilt for each branch!
