Program Description

Event Details

Crochet for the Soul is a workshop focused on learning basic crochet skills as well as connecting and sharing our own stories around creating textile/fibre art (or any art). Together we will discuss the benefits of crochet, getting together as a group to learn and create. We hope together we can experience firsthand how inclusivity and accessibility to community art space and co creation is important to a healthy life.

Kai, he/they, Is an Afro-Carribean, multidisciplinary artist from Toronto who has been crocheting since he was 15 years old. Crochet was originally a hobby that they picked up to occupy himself whenever he felt overwhelmed or needed something to keep him distracted and it quickly turned into an expressive and connective art form that offered Kai community & stability. Kai has had the pleasure of teaching youth and adults alike throughout Ontario to crochet clothing, hats, art pieces and even dolls.

Nat, they/them, is a Jamaican-Canadian full spectrum doula, health educator and multi-disciplinary artist. With 3 years of crochet experience under their belt and a multitude of other textile and visual art experience they are excited to connect and share skills and information around crocheting, creating together and mental and physical wellness.
